Wise Words

Inspirational Images & Quotes
"Whatever you do in your decorating philosophy, be brave....never wish you hadn't taken your vision right to the end. Make a bold statement."
Roger Banks-Pye, Colefax and Fowler Interior Inspirations

"Taste is relative and is the sum total of the intellectual and emotional experiences of the individual experiences of the individual. Taste, in order to be positive and vital, must be exercised and developed. Taste is changeable and is influenced by environment. A highly cultivated taste, a taste that is knowledgeable and eclectic, is likely to be exciting and provocative, a personal taste at its highest level."
Eleanor Brown, The Finest Rooms by America's Great Decorators

"... our objects, bibelots, whatnots, and knickknacks-say the most about who we are. They are as honest as a diary."
Charlotte Moss, A Passion for Details

"Contemporary paintings and sculpture are happy with furniture of the past. Fabrics of contemporary colors and textures are suitable and appealing on old chairs. Old patterns seem excitingly fresh when rejuvenated by a contemporary palette."
Eleanor McMillen Brown, Sixty Years of Interior Design

"Never look back, except for an occasional glance, look ahead and plan for the future. Success is not built on past laurels, but rather on a continuous activity. Keep busy searching out new ideas and, experimentally, keep ahead of the times, or at least up with them."
Dorothy Draper

"Be faithful to your own taste because nothing you really like is ever out of style."
Billy Baldwin

  1. The first quote is really applicable with me.
I always have to remind myself that your final vision for an interior shouldnt be swayed by peoples opinions.
Just be brave and carry on!

The last quote is also very true. The things that you have liked for years never go out of fashion, so just re-use them.

    Really like this post, Robin!
